10 Liberty Head V Nickels
Only the 2nd design ever issued for the 5 cent piece!
Liberty V Nickels were minted from 1883-1912 and were only the 2nd design ever for the 5 cent piece.
The obverse depicts the head of Liberty with 13 stars on the around the edge of the coin. The reverse side of the coin features a large roman numeral "V."
Many early Liberty Head Nickels were counterfeited and plated in gold then used as a 5 dollar gold piece because the word "cents" was not stated on the coin, but was later added.
